Mission
Yuwenbon, also known as Huntsville Chinese Village, is committed to continually providing Chinese language and culture education to help challenge minds, preserve Chinese heritage, and prepare for a better opportunity in a global economy. To further our objectives, we added Spanish in 2016, Japanese and Korean in 2017. In 2018, we added French, Brazilian Portuguese, and American Sign Language.
Vision
Our vision is to inspire students of all ages to become fluent in Chinese in the forms of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In the process of becoming fluent in Chinese, you will also develop the following important values: commitment, discipline, hard work, patience, and team work.
Philosophy
Learning a foreign language is a life-long journey. We believe in teaching Chinese in its entirety and complexity - not just be thrown into it, guessing, or memorizing phrases like a tourist.
To start with, you must take your time to build a solid foundation and learn how to self study. At Yuwenbon, we help build solid foundation of pronunciation by learning to read zhuyin, a Chinese phonetic system. Next, we will introduce reading materials that come with Zhuyin and Chinese characters. Eventually, you will read the Chinese characters all by themselves. We learn to speak with near-native pronunciation. We read and write traditional Chinese characters. We learn Chinese grammar, radicals, and analyze the components of the characters.
